Ancient Words For Today - Jeremiah 33:3
I am continually amazed as I read the Bible and study its ancient words of wisdom. The truth is, God's Word is just as applicable and important for each of us to understand and follow today as it was for those who first received it. The Bible was written by 40 or more authors, who were each inspired by God. Through them, God has provided answers to deep questions like the origin of the earth, the universe and all living organisms, God's purpose for creating man and the plan He has for us, the fall of man and the sin-prone nature we all have inherited; even the dilemmas we face in our world today are predicted there.
Most importantly, woven through the 66 books of the Bible, God has revealed His incredible love for us and His wonderful plan of salvation through His Son, Jesus, and what we as believers can expect in the eternity to come as we are forever in His presence. The Bible is a guide for living a joyful and abundant life. It teaches us what is right and wrong, good and evil, so that we might avoid getting entangled in those things that are harmful to us and follow along the good path God has shown us leading to righteousness and godliness.
The song "Ancient Words" is one of my all time favorites. The lyrics inspired me to write the Ancient Words For Today series of messages, which set forth God's Word and emphasize the importance of knowing, believing and folowing His Word to keep us on track, strengthen our faith and guide us home. As you consider the words to the song, I hope they will be an encouragement to you to walk closely with Him as you study and apply His ancient words of wisdom in your life.
